Report on Inter School Geeta Chanting Competition – 2008

“Just as a dreamer rediscovers himself to be the worker, you, who has little ego,
rediscovers its identity with Brahman”. - Swami Chinmayananda

Hari Om! Salutations!!

Among the priceless teachings that may be found in the great epic of the Mahabharata, there is none so rare and precious as the Bhagwat Geeta – The Lord’s song, the one song in many tongues. Since it fell from the divine lips of Sri Krishna on the field of battle and stilled the surging emotions of the disciple and friend, how many troubled hearts has it quietened and strengthened, how many weary souls has it led to Him!

The 14th Inter School Geeta Chanting Competition was successfully conducted in Chinmaya Vidyalaya on 20th and 21st October 2008. The text for this year being “Chapter-8, The Akshara Brahma Yoga”.

“Just as a dreamer rediscovers himself to be the worker, you, who has little ego,
rediscovers its identity with Brahman”. - Swami Chinmayananda

The chanting of the sacred verses was beautifully rendered by the four different groups, from tiny tots to senior levels from as many as 25 reputed schools of the capital city. This devout activity was governed and assessed by eminent judges from the field and the event was chaired by Swami Nikhilanandaji, Regional Head, Chinmaya Mission, Delhi.

Individual prizes in the different categories were given out to students excelling in their chanting. The Rolling Trophy was awarded to Sri Sathya Sai School, Vidya Vihar after Chinmaya Vidyalaya as a host school decided to give away this coveted position and the Runner-up position was bagged by D.P.S., Vasant Vihar.

A suitable prelude to this was made by Matru Pooja in the school premises on 18th October and to be culminated in the final Mega Gyan Yagna by Swami Tejomayanandaji, World Wide Head of Chinmaya Mission.
